Schedule your arrival into London no later than 10:00am and take local transportation (or purchase an optional private transfer) to the hotel. The tour begins at 1:15PM in the hotel lobby with our Welcome Meeting. We will make introductions and then depart for a visit to Buckingham Palace. Pass through the gates to enter and see the grand staircase leading to various State Rooms, some housing famous art belonging to the Royal family, others where many ceremonial guests have been entertained. Experience the history of the palace as well as the royal family. This evening we will enjoy dinner together and get better acquainted. Overnight London - 3 nights
Saturday, 08 August 2026: Westminster Abbey; Houses of Parliament; West End Theatre (B,O)
The most expedient way of getting around London is via the London Underground (subway), more commonly referred to as the Tube. And that's exactly how we'll traverse the city today on foot and via the underground, visiting two of London's iconic sites. We begin at Westminster Abbey, one of the world's great churches and an architectural masterpiece of the 13th to 16th centuries. It's a living pageant of British history, site of every coronation since 1066 and it is where many monarchs are buried. This afternoon, enjoy a guided tour of the Houses of Parliament, offering a unique combination of 1,000 years of history, stunning art and architecture mixed with modern day politics. The tour includes visits to both the Commons and Lords Chambers and the historic Westminster Hall. Follow the route taken by the Queen at the State Opening of Parliament, including the Queen's Robing Room, the Royal Gallery and Prince's Chamber. After sharing a quick bite to eat, we head to London's West End to see a show (subject to availability).
Sunday, 09 August 2026: Tower of London; Free Time (B)
Today, we head to the Tower of London to glimpse the crown jewels and see the riverside fortress that was completed in the 14th century. The tower has served as many things throughout its long history. It's past has served as not only a fortress for protection of the royal families and their possessions but also as a prison, the Royal Mint and even a zoo. Be prepared to be dazzled by the State Crown which has the world's largest top-quality cut diamond. The rest of the day is yours to spend as you wish. This great city has many attractions and there is no shortage of things to do and see. Perhaps you want to visit the Tate Modern, the most visited modern art gallery in the world or stroll Trafalgar Square. Your Tour Leader can offer suggestions.
Monday, 10 August 2026: Travel to Edinburgh by Train; Panoramic & Walking Tour (B,D)
We say farewell to London as we make our way to King's Cross Station to board the train for Edinburgh. Sit back and relax as we travel along the English countryside. Looming over the city is the medieval fortress of Edinburgh Castle, home to Scotland’s crown jewels and the legendary Stone of Destiny used in the coronation of Scottish rulers. Today we visit this famous castle and learn about important events and battles in Scottish history that took place on the castle grounds. After lunch together, we visit the Johnnie Walker Distillery to learn about whisky (spelled without the e in Scotland) and how it is deeply intertwined with Scottish history, traditions and identity. We will taste the 3 drinks flavored to your taste preferences. Tonight, we are in for a treat. Each year, the Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo takes place in front of Edinburgh Castle. This popular and iconic event offers a unique blend of military music and dance. Not only are the performers from Scotland but rather from all over the world. The show ends with a spectacular fireworks display (subject to availability).
Wednesday, 12 August 2026: Glasgow Walking Tour; Glasgow Cathedral; Travel to Lake District (B,L)
We depart for Lake District today, stopping in Glasgow along the way. Glasgow has been called Britain's finest Victorian city and even today boasts striking architecture. The city's two centuries of prosperity, thanks to trade and shipbuilding, has evolved more recently into a national cultural hub and one of Europe's most vibrant cities. We begin this morning with a walking tour that includes Glasgow Cathedral, a rare example of an almost complete 13th-century church. It was one of the only cathedrals to escape destruction during the Scottish Reformation by adapting itself to Protestant worship. After lunch together, we board our coach to continue on to the Lake District, commonly referred to as 'the Lakes'. This mountainous area in Western England is famous not only for the scenery but also for local poet, William Wordsworth and children's author, Beatrix Potter. Overnight Lake District - 2 nights
Thursday, 13 August 2026: Dove Cottage; Lake Windermere Cruise (B,L)

We will enjoy a guided tour of the cottage, hearing about the antics of Wordsworth and his friends. There will be time to visit the museum, stroll in the lovely gardens, and have lunch together. Then, we depart for Lake Windermere to enjoy a sightseeing cruise with views of the Lake District landscape - mountains, islands and wooded shores. England's largest lake measures 10.5 miles long by 1 mile across. After our cruise, we return to the hotel and the evening is yours to enjoy as you wish.
Friday, 14 August 2026: Beatrix Potter's Hill Top; Walled City of Chester; Travel to Llandudno (B)
We bid farewell to the Lake District and make our way to Wales. Our first stop is Beatrix Potter's Hill Top. Potter was author to famous children's stories such as "The Tale of Peter Rabbit". This 17th century farmhouse has been preserved so that visitors can see the backdrops of what inspired many of her famous books. The journey continues to the ancient walled city of Chester, which dates back to the Roman Empire where we stretch our legs and explore the medieval city. Admire the world-famous Chester Rows, the unique "double decker" streets. Perhaps stop by the Roman Amphitheater or Eastgate Clock which is the most photographed timepiece in the world after Big Ben. Late this afternoon, we travel to Llandudno, Wales, the classic Victorian seaside town. Overnight Llandudno - 2 nights
Saturday, 15 August 2026: Snowdonia National Park; Train Ride to Summit (B)
North Wales is home to beautiful and dramatic scenery. Our first stop today is Snowdonia National Park. We embark on a train ride to the summit of Mount Snowdon. Explore the visitor center, walk along one of the trails and even send a post card if you wish. We return to Llandudno late the afternoon. The evening is yours to enjoy as you wish.
Sunday, 16 August 2026: Medieval Town and Castle of Conwy; Travel to Manchester (B,D)
Take time to explore the seaside town of Llandudno once more this morning. We then travel along the beautiful coast to the historic, medieval town of Conwy. Conwy Castle, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is one of the most impressive fortresses in Wales. This afternoon we make our way to Manchester. Besides being known for its soccer teams, the city is famous for being the world's first industrial city. Tonight, we gather for our Farewell Dinner to reminisce about our favorite stops on this British adventure. Overnight Manchester - 1 night

- Select "No, I do not wish to share a room" if you want to have your own room. Additional costs apply.
- All shared rooms have 2 beds
- All shared rooms are non-smoking
- No special requests about your roommate can be accommodated

As a solo traveler you are responsible for yourself, your possessions, your physical fitness, and all other aspects related to participation in the WTT tour you have chosen. Be sure to read the itinerary closely to better understand the physical requirements necessary for the tour.
WTT tours are not suitable for anyone whose mobility is challenged or compromised. If you struggle with walking, standing or negotiating stairs or if you are in doubt as to your ability to meet the physical activity requirements, you should not sign up for this trip.
What is the Group Size?

Learn about your fellow travelers after final payment by visiting MyWTT. Room sharing assignments will be listed in the Final Travel Instructions.
What meals are included and how are dietary restrictions accommodated?
Each day of the itinerary lists the included meals for that day (B,L,D,O). When a meal is not included, the WTT Tour Leader will have suggestions for where to eat.
You do not have to dine alone unless it is your personal choice. You'll most likely be dining with new acquaintances you've made, or you can join the Tour Leader.

What clothing and items should I pack for this trip?
During August, the weather in Great Britain is usually milder than in most of the U.S. Based on historical weather data, temperatures may range from the low 50s to the high 70s. Days can shift quickly between sunshine and light rain showers, so please pack accordingly. We suggest you monitor weather apps closer to your tour departure date for the most current information.
For This Trip You May Want—
- Comfortable walking shoes
- Clothing that easily layers for variable conditions
- Lightweight rain jacket
- Smart-casual wear if you'd like to dress up a bit for dinners
Good Packing Habits—
- Bring what you need to get a good night's sleep, such as ear plugs, white noise generator, sleeping aids, etc. Unfamiliar noises of all types can disrupt your rest.
- Pack a limited amount of comfortable, casual clothing that layer and coordinate. Your fellow travelers will not mind or even notice – seeing you in the same clothing.
- Bring only two pairs of everyday shoes: one pair of well-broken-in walking shoes, and a second pair that could do double-duty as a walking shoe or a slightly dressy shoe.
- Pare down your beauty regimen to the bare minimum and always pack travel-sized toiletries.
- Pack medication in your carry-on and pack only as much as needed for the duration of your tour plus a few extra days as a precaution.
What are the luggage restrictions for this tour?
On every WTT tour, our policies regarding luggage restrictions are driven by the physical space limitations of the vehicles we use, the requirement that all travelers be able to manage their own belongings without assistance, and the restrictions imposed by other forms of transportation such as trains.
- It is best to travel as lightly as possible. Most travelers regret when they have packed too much.
- You may bring one suitcase plus a carry-on bag.
- We recommend your suitcase be no larger than 26 inches high as measured from the FLOOR to the top of the retracted handle to make it easy for you to handle yourself.
- You are responsible for managing your own belongings. That means we expect you to take your belongings from the coach to your room and to bring it back to the coach on the day we change hotels. We do not provide luggage pulls; they are not safe and are inconvenient.
What are the phone and internet recommendations for this tour?
Only you can determine your need to stay in contact while traveling.
- You should understand what your current cell phone plan includes in terms of data and minutes. Some, like certain T-Mobile plans, include an international package.
- Contact your cell phone service provider before departing about adding an international calling plan. Most carriers have flat daily rates which will allow your US-based phone to be functional upon arrival in a foreign country.
- Managing data while traveling internationally is important. Using WiFi when available and communicating through apps like What's App help you manage data usage while traveling.
- Learn how to make an international call BEFORE you leave. Consult your cell provider and check out the website www.HowtoCallAbroad.com.
How much money should I bring on this tour?
Only you can determine the amount of cash you will need on tour. Be sure to keep cash on hand for sharing restaurant tabs, cabs, tips, and smaller purchases. More and more, restaurants are no longer allowing groups to split the bill. Therefore, you might want to have cash-on-hand for meals on your own when dining with others in the group.
- England's official currency is the Pound (GBP).
- Automatic teller machines (ATMs) are found in most cities and are typically the best way of obtaining cash. You must know your PIN number.
- Many travelers feel more comfortable having local currency before they depart for the tour. You can order local currency from your bank or AAA.
- Notify your credit card issuer that you will be traveling and provide dates of travel.
- Visa and Mastercard are widely accepted throughout England, although many cards charge a foreign transaction fee. Be sure to investigate your card of choice as there are many credit cards that impose no foreign transaction fees and are therefore better suited for international travel.
- If a merchant gives you the choice between making your transaction in USD or the local currency, always choose the local currency to avoid dynamic currency conversion which includes a conversion fee.
What are the tipping guidelines for this tour?
All tips to local guides who join the tour to lead individual walks, as well as drivers, will be paid on your behalf.
- You are responsible for Tipping the In-Country guide who travels with the group (suggest $35-$50).
- We suggest you read up on tipping culture in the various places you will be visiting so you can show your appreciation for any personal service provided with an appropriate gratuity.
- In London, most restaurants and pubs will include a service charge on the bill. If there is no service charge, you should tip for good service. An appropriate amount would be 10-15 percent of the total. It is polite to round up your taxi fare to the nearest pound. If you receive excellent service at a hotel, a small tip is appreciated.
- You may want to tip your WTT Tour Leader for an outstanding job. The amount is entirely a personal preference. If you'd like a guideline, consider $8-$10 per day.
